John and Nate White are third- and fourth-generation Maine guides whose lives have been shaped by teaching, guiding, and a deep respect for the outdoors. John, a longtime guide and retired teacher from Gould Academy, has spent decades leading canoe trips, fishing Maine waters, and sharing his knowledge with generations of students and sportsmen.
In this episode, John reflects on his early days guiding, memorable canoe trips on the Allagash River, and the lessons learned from teaching and guiding in all kinds of conditions. He shares stories from a life spent helping others connect with Maine’s rivers, woods, and traditions.
