Jon Lund is the owner of the Maine Sportsman Magazine, Jon is a former state representative, a former member of the Maine state senate, and was the Attorney General for the state of Maine in the 1970’s..
Jon is a retired lawyer and conservation advocate. Jon’s career reflects his passion for preserving rivers and lands, and his personality is humble and soft-spoken.
His contributions to the Maine sporting community shaped many important efforts that we continue to celebrate today.
Jon helped start the Maine Sportsman Magazine in the early 1970’s and continues today as the owner and publisher. The fly fishing community in Maine owes a great debt of gratitude to Jon for the work he has done to shape our sporting heritage, and I consider him the be a Maine Legend and Luminary in the Maine fly fishing community as a result of his influence.
Will Lund is Jon’s son. Will graduated from Bowdoin College and eventually earning his law degree from the University of Maine School of Law. Will directed the Consumer Protection agency for the State of Maine from 1987 through 2022.
Will Lund is a registered Maine Guide and, like his father Jon, has a gentle demeanor and a gift for bringing out the best in the stories that he edits for his contributing columnists. Nothing gets released from this wonderful monthly publication without the careful editing and guidance of both Jon and Will.
The Lund family is highly respected in the Kennebec County region for their civic contributions, and it comes with great pleasure to introduce the Fly Line Podcast audience to this incredible father and son duo that created and continue to create The Maine Sportsman Magazine.
