
Kathy and David live in Mercer Maine and also spend time in their native state of Michigan. Kathy and David first came to Maine when Kathy accepted a teaching position, David has a background in engineering and they both have dedicated their professional career to supporting others through teaching, mentoring and through their kind influence.
Kathy is an award winning author of 5 books and is a contributing writer in many national publications related to cane fly rods and fly fishing.
Both Kathy and David have been ardent supporters of Trout Unlimited and Kathy has served on the National Board of Trustees and David recently stepped down from the National Leadership Council.
Both David and Kathy have taught a week long immersion class in cane rod building at the Catskill Fly Fishing Center in Upstate New York. David and Kathy are considered two of the most knowledgeable people regarding the history of the cane rod world, and they both enjoy building modern replicas of the traditional rod tapers utilizing contemporary and traditional techniques alike.
Kathy and David are the kind of people that live to give. They will always leave the woodpile higher than they found it, and you will never hear a soul speak an ill word of them. To know them is to admire them, and I know that everyone in the Maine fly fishing community holds them in the highest regard.
