Maine Fishing Guides & Luminaries

EP4: Bill Pierce, the “Rangeley Lakes Outdoor Luminary”

Bill Pierce is from New Vineyard, Maine. Bill is a Master Maine Guide and Living Legend in the Maine Fly Fishing Community. Bill has an infectious personality and is loved by everyone that has ever met him.

Bill has worked in many capacities that have substantially impacted the history and land preservation of the State of Maine for our sport.

Bill began his career in Maine working in the ski and golf industry as the Sales Manager for Sugarloaf USA.

Following his success at Sugarloaf, Bill was hired by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife to boost in-state and out-of-state marketing and promotional efforts.

In 2002, Bill was recognized as the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Employee of the Year.

In 2008, Bill received the distinguished “L.L. Bean Outdoor Hero Award” for innovation and exemplary service in promoting Maine’s Outdoors.

Following that, Bill became the Director of Development at The Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust, successfully working in Fundraising, Land Acquisition, and acquiring Grants for future land conservation projects.

Bill was recognized by a new and growing organization that appointed him as the new Executive Director for the Rangeley Lakes Historical Society-Outdoor, Heritage Museum & Rangeley History Museum.

His excellence in Community Organizing and Grant writing transformed the Historical Society and museum into the most impressive collection of Maine fishing history, sporting artifacts, and historical memorabilia.

Bill’s hobbies include snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, Fly Fishing, and upland Hunting. Bill’s favorite pass time is spending fun times with others in his community, as he is a committed friend to everyone he inspires.

Bill and his glamorous wife Rhonda recently celebrated 33 (correction) 36! years of their successful marriage. They live in New Vineyard, Maine, with their two German Short Haired Pointers, Zeke and Boomer.
